Analyst Apple Pay Usage Grew 50% In 2016

Apple doesn’t usually reveal numbers in regards to Apple Pay usage, however consumer spending analytics company TXN has pulled data from over three million customers.

It says that analysts who specialize in credit card bills from banks note that Apple Pay usage grew 50% in 12 months, ending in December 2016.

TXN has also revealed that Duane Reade and Whole Foods are the most popular retail locations using the payment method, with 1.8% and 1.7% usage of overall transactions, respectively. All other retailers have Apple Pay transaction under 1%.

Apple Pay usage in mobile apps and on the web is much higher, however. With HotelTonight leading with 3.4% usage, followed by Caviar, Postmates and DoorDash.

As Apple Pay continues to grow, and as Apple themselves continue to support it in more of its devices, we expect usage to continue to rise.
