Apple Pay Now Officially Launched In Spain With Support For Banco Santander

And just like it was reported yesterday, Apple Pay has officially launched in Spain and is available through Banco Santander via debit or credit cards. This is in addition to cards issued by Amex, Carrefour, and Ticket Restaurant.

While Apple only lists 27 retail partners on its website, the country has excellent support for contactless payments. Santander says that Apple Pay can be used in around 75% of Spanish stores, in addition to being used to make online purchases.

“Apple Pay shows we are committed to collaborate and to bring innovation and new technology to our customers to make their payments easier, faster and more secure,” said Rami Aboukhair, country head of Santander Spain. “We are convinced our customers will love it.”

This makes Apple Pay available in 13 countries now, including: Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and USA.

Apple Pay is available on the Apple Watch, iPhone and iPad, and on the Late 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.
