Apple To Again Support (RED) For World AIDS Day

As it has for the past decade, Apple is supporting the (RED) campaign to support the fight against HIV/AIDS. Each year the company turns their Apple logo red at their retail locations, and offers special-edition (RED) products in which all of the proceeds goes to the cause.

This year 20 popular App Store apps and games are offering exclusive (RED) in-app purchases, where all the proceeds will go to the campaign’s Global Fund. Apple has also added four new special edition products to its (RED) lineup.

The 20 App Store games that are participating are Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds POP!, Best Fiends, Best Fiends Forever, Boom Beach, Candy Crush Jelly Saga, Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, CSR2, Episode, Farm Heroes Saga, FarmVille: Tropic Escape, FIFA Mobile, Hay Day, MARVEL Contest of Champions, PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator, Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, SimCity BuildIt, War Dragons and YAHTZEE With Buddies.

In terms of products, the company has added the iPhone 7 Smart Battery Case, iPhone SE case, Beats Solo 3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones, and the Pill+ Portable Speaker to its (RED) line.

Here’s Tim Cook’s take (via Buzzfeed News):

“We look for ways we think we can uniquely contribute to the world in which we live,” Cook said. “And we’ll always touch more people through our products than anything else. … It’s that area — an area in which we have expertise — where we think we can make a contribution that multiplies well beyond simply writing a check. We want to advocate for human rights in a way that people can look at what we’re doing and say ‘you know, I could be a part of something like that’ — ‘I could do something like that.’ For us this is critically important.”

Apple has raised over $350M for (RED) in the last decade.
