Digitimes reports that Apple will be updating its iPad line with a new 10.5-inch model. It says the new iPad will begin production in December at the earliest, with a launch as early as January 2017. Though, a March event would fall more in line with Apple’s release schedule.
Earlier this year KGI’s Ming-Chi Kuo released a similar report stating that OLED iPads won’t be launching until 2018, however an update to the iPad Pros would be coming out in 2017. The 2017 iPads would feature an A10x chip, which is an update to the existing SoC chips found in the iPhone 7.
A 10.5-inch iPad would be something out of left field. It’s a bit too close to the existing 9.7-inch size. Perhaps Apple would drop the 9.7-inch iPad altogether and make a 10.5-inch model that fits in the same size as the existing 9.7-inch model while reducing bezels dramatically.
