During the Emmys tonight, a new Apple Music commercial aired with a new approach to show off the music streaming service. The 2-minute clip stars James Corden best known for hosting the Late Late Show, paired with Apple execs Jimmy Iovine, Eddy Cue, and Bozoma Saint John.
Taking a new comical approach, the commercial depicts Corden pitching a plethora of different ideas for an Apple Music commercial to the Apple executives. Corden starts by imitating various artists such as the Spice Girls and Pharrell.
Throughout the ad, various features of Apple Music are mentioned, such as having a 40 million song catalog, cross-platform support, and a free three-month trial for new users. The “For You” playlists are also mentioned, with a push for “hand-picked” playlists.
The best way to experience all the music you love—even offline. Over 40 million songs. Thousands of handpicked playlists. Exclusive music and video premieres. New members get three months free.
The ad is taking a different approach as apposed to typical Apple. Having Cue, Box, and Iovine in the ad is very unordinary, but coupled with Corden the ad comes together quite nicely.
