Apple Announces New 2TB ICloud Storage Option For $20/Month

Apple has today launched a new 2TB iCloud storage option, with roughly 8 days before the company is expected to unveil the new iPhone. The new plan will give users 2TB of iCloud storage and will run them a hefty $19.99 a month.

While it may be unrelated, launching a new tier could possibly be tied to the iPhone 7 having a 256GB storage option. This would double the current largest iPhone storage option — 128GB.

On the other hand, the base model of the new iPhone will reportedly have 32GB of storage, and the top-of-the-line iPad Pros currently have 256GB storage options.

Of course, the new storage option is in addition to the current ones available.

  • 5GB for free
  • 50GB for $0.99
  • 200GB for $2.99
  • 1TB for $9.99

It’ll be interesting to see if Apple will drop any of the existing storage tiers for iCloud, perhaps up the free storage to 50GB and make 100GB available for $0.99.
