The most frustrating thing when restoring an iCloud backup to a new iPhone is that apps typically (not always) downloads in chronological order. iOS typically downloads items in your dock first and then it proceeds to the top of your home screen and moves down from there.
However, Reddit user nite_ has discovered a workaround that allows users to pick and choose which applications they want to prioritize by using a 3D Touch gesture on the app icon.
While iCloud backups are convenient, we highly recommend doing an encrypted iTunes backup as that’ll overall be smoother and all of your settings and data will transfer much quicker over the cable.
It’s worth noting that iCloud backups are encrypted, but not end-to-end. Meaning, Apple can still access them if needed. For example, if law enforcement needs to get into the device.
