GigSky today has expanded its network to over 140 countries around the world and is doing so by making use of the Apple SIM now embedded into recent iPad models. This allows customers to purchase international on-device without switching out their typical SIM or getting a local SIM when traveling.
The company offers an assortment of short-term plans that can be purchased with their current Apple SIM on their iPads. With GigSky, customers can purchase international data plans that range from $15 USD for 100MB of data good for up to 3 days, and as much as 1GB of data for $50 USD good for up to 30 days in the United States. While a bit pricey, this is cheaper than going with most carriers’ roaming plans.
The Apple SIM comes standard on the iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 & 4, the iPad Pro 12.9-inch and is embedded in the iPad Pro 9.7-inch. Otherwise, you’d need to grab a GigSky SIM to use their services on any other iOS devices.
