Apple has officially began rolling out press invitations for its March 21 event (via @Tim), with the tagline reading “Let us loop you in.” As per usual, Apple doesn’t give away any indication as to what is expected.
However, in this event we expect Apple to launch it’s new 4-inch iPhone. First dubbed as iPhone 5se, now just iPhone SE, the smaller iPhone is supposedly going to be an updated iPhone 5s with updated internals and a design somewhere along the lines of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s.
As for specs, we’re expecting an A9 chip, NFC with support for Apple Pay, and the ability to shoot Live Photos. However, 3D Touch will be missing from the smaller iPhone and will remain a flagship feature for the iPhone 6s.
The new 9.7-inch iPad, whether it be an iPad Air 3 or smaller variant of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, will sport the same internals as the current super-sized iPad Pro, and will sport the Apple Pencil and have a Smart Connector with its own variant of the Smart Keyboard.
It is also possible that Apple will be adding a LED flash for the first time in an iPad, and bump the camera technology.
Both devices will reportedly be available days after the event, not weeks.
While an Apple Watch refresh isn’t due until this fall, Apple will be updating its band line up similar to what they did last September. We’re expecting a Space Black Milanese Loop, and an all new band material.
Finally, we’re expecting Apple to unleash all new software all across the board. This means iOS 9.3, watchOS 2.2, tvOS 9.2, and OS X 10.11.4. A standalone iTunes update is also expected.
