Ultimate Calendar App Comparison: Sunrise Calendar vs. Fantastical 2 vs. Tempo Smart Calendar
When it comes to answering questions like: What’s the best calendar app for iPhone? It’s difficult to give one option. Truth is, there are so many good ones and each offers something the other doesn’t. So, I decided to compare three fantastic apps that each has something unique and likeable.
Sunrise is currently my own personal favorite. It has a really clean user interface and some intuitive gesture controls for switching between month, list and week view. Not only that, it has location based weather forecasting and profile pics for people you’re meeting with, or who are celebrating birthdays etc.
If you happen to have Google accounts, you can add more than one, and use a natural language system to simply type something like “meeting for coffee tomorrow at 9am” and it fills in all the details for you. What’s more, it has an iPad-optimized version too, and it’s a free download.
Tempo Smart Calendar has a very specific focus: Business. It’s brilliant at it. It’s designed to make calendar more social, giving you quick and easy access to contacts’ and business information.
You can call, text or message right from within the app, or create group recipients. You also have access to contact insights to tell you how often you meet particular contacts, and when your next one is scheduled.
Fantastical 2 is amazing on iPhone. It’s not perfect, and it’s the only one on this list that isn’t a free download. It costs $4.99/£2.99, but it has some useful tricks up its sleeve. Firstly, its natural language system is unmatched.
Secondly, you can edit and create Reminders right from within the app without looking at Apple’s hideous default app. Until an iPad version is released (which is very soon) it’ll remain my number 2.
