For iOS gamers, the main complaint against the platform is that it doesn’t have the same games (most of the time) as the full gaming consoles like Microsoft’s Xbox system. However, according to a new report by Reuters today, it looks like Microsoft is going to bring some of its Xbox and PC games to mobile platforms this year.
Japanese smartphone developer Klab, Inc. has reportedly made a deal with Microsoft that will allow the developer to bring Xbox games to iPhones and Android based phones starting later this year.
According to the report, Microsoft’s “Age of Empires” will be the first game available from Klab, and it should be available by the end of this year. There will also be other titles that will be available later, and the best news is that “Age of Empires” will be available to play for free!
While Windows Phone users have had access to Xbox games for quite some time, this is a new and exciting feature coming to iPhone and Android users. Unfortunately, the other titles that will be developed have not been announced.
I would be surprised if Microsoft kept any of the other titles free on iPhone and Android, as the titles require purchases for both Xbox and PC use. But Microsoft is making a good move by expanding its target market and making these games available on other mobile platforms.
