Have you ever been stranded without power, looking for a way to charge your mobile device? Say you are at home, and the power goes out…what do you do if you can’t charge your phone? Nothing, you are doomed unless you have an external battery/power pack of some sort.

I’m actually surprised that the idea illustrated in the video above (however strange it may seem) hasn’t been thought of earlier, or maybe I’m just not remembering it from somewhere else.
However, what this does is allows you to charge your USB capable device – aka pretty much any smartphone or tablet – by spinning the “Voltmaker” to create a charge, similar to how some flashlights work.

Optionally, you can plug it into the wall and it will act like one of the aforementioned power packs. Looking over the page on Indiegogo, the concept looks quite promising. The idea of it is really cool, and I might have to look into getting one. Living in FL, our power goes out a few times during hurricane season, so this would definitely come in handy.

If you want to pledge to be one of the first to get one, head on over to the Indiegogo page.

What do you think? Are you interested in this idea? Thinking about backing it? Let us know in the comments
