After Apple’s new 2-step verification system for Apple ID and iCloud accounts was launched yesterday, it was discovered that users were easily able to reset and access accounts with just an email address and a date of birth.
This was a clear worry for an iTunes account holders, and sent shivers down many a spine. The Verge spotted a simple tutorial on how to do it, and is now the first to get word from Apple that the company is aware of issues.
“Apple takes customer privacy very seriously. We are aware of this issue, and working on a fix.”
It’s a pretty standard issue response, but comforting nonetheless to anyone worrying about having their accounts hacked. We’ll keep you up to date as this develops.
