Review:

The online accounting service FreshBooks released a new iPhone app that enables you to keep manage business expenses and clients while on the go.

If you already have an account, you’ll be asked to provide your domain and login information for authentication purposes. Otherwise, you can create an account directly from the app.

Similar to the online service, FreshBooks for iOS lets you create invoices, log hours, track expenses, and process payments directly from your phone. In addition to invoicing, you can also manage your clients, whether you need to update contact information or provide a work estimate.

When creating an invoice, you can log your service as either “time” or “item.” Unfortunately, any task description (such as strategy, writing, meeting, etc.) that you’ve created online won’t carry over into the app, so you’ll have to manually input descriptions.

Tracking expenses is pretty simple: just input the bill amount, or snap a picture of the receipt. You can categorize it, assign it to a specific client, add notes, and even apply necessary taxes.

When you’ve finished adding expenses, you can click on “More Actions” to convert it to an invoice and send to a client. The app keeps track of which expenses have been billed and which ones haven’t.

FreshBook notes that its reports look best on the big screen, which is why the app’s reporting feature launches in mobile Safari. Here, you can view expense reports, track revenue, review time sheets, and so on. You can also choose to have these reports emailed to you.

Overall, FreshBooks for iOS is very straightforward and user-friendly. Whether you’re managing yourself (freelancers) or working with a team (small business), this app can help you prevent paperwork backlogs.
