LG And AU Optronics Once Again Said To Be “IPad Mini” Screen Supplier
Bloomberg reported today that LG Display and AU Optronics will supply Apple with the screens they need for the rumored upcoming iPad Mini. The report also specifically says that the iPad Mini will be released in October.
Bloomberg pointed out that this will be the first time that AUO will provide screens for any of Apple’s mobile technologies, as they usually make panels for the Apple’s line of Macbooks.
The article also states that TPK and Foxconn subsidiary Yeh Chang Technology will be making the lamination coating for the newest iPad’s display.
MacRumors points out that interestingly enough, there have been reports of LG and AU Optronics serving as suppliers for the iPad Mini’s display since October 2011, with the first claim of these two companies partnering with Apple on this product appearing in Taiwan’s United Daily News. The Wall Street Journal also reported on this topic in February earlier this year.
