I always use screen protectors on my iOS devices. Or, I used to. With Apple’s beautiful Retina displays, I admit that I’ve been slacking on my screen protection. The reason isn’t that I’ve become less paranoid about cracking my screens.

It’s just that when I put a screen protector on my gadgets, the only ones I really like are the anti-glare films because the don’t attract fingerprints. Films with a crystal coating make the screen look great but after mere moments of use, you see more fingerprints and icons.

The anti-glare coating doesn’t have the fingerprint problem but it makes the display look fuzzy, basically un-Retinizing it. So it seems like there are two options: protect the screen and have it look worse or leave it unprotected and run the risk of scratches and cracks.

Well it seems like I’m not the only one who’s noticed this catch 22. 3M has developed a new screen protector with a crystal coating that actually makes fingerprints disappear!

This new accessories for iPads and the Galaxy Tab features some futuristic technology that allows greasy fingerprints to fade away all by themselves. What’s more, the screen protector has a crystal finish, so the screen isn’t obscured in any way. If you’re interested, you can pick up this accessories on Amazon for $23.

Has anyone tried this out? If so, let me know in the comments section below.
