AppVV.com, the site that leaked the iPhone 4S hands-on video earlier has all but confirmed previous suspicions that the new Apple handset has 512MB of RAM. It was rumored before the launch that the latest device would get a bump up to 1GB, but, apparently Apple believes that half that is enough.
“Re @ LogIn_Kim: RAM have said before, is still 512MB.”
This short response adds further evidence to support the claims by an Infinity Blade developer:
“I’m still shocked that, with the iPhone 4S, I’m literally running around with a 1080p video camera in my pocket, with an eight megapixel camera, 64GB of hard drive space and an A5 chip with 512MB of memory. This is a really powerful computer, right?”
Here’s the deal: if Apple believed 1GB RAM was necessary, it would have it. But, as it stands – and with iOS not featuring true multitasking – 512MB is plenty.
