Al Gore, former Vice President and Apple board member, made a comment that suggests not one but two iPhones are scheduled to launch in October. The Apple board member was at the Discovery Invest Leadership Summit in South Africa when he said this:

Not to mention the new iPhones coming out next month. That was a plug.

Notice the ‘s’ on the end of iPhone. The South African editor said that Al Gore did intentionally say ‘iPhones’, and did not mean to make it singular. There’s been no official statement from Apple on the matter( I wouldn’t expect one either).

It’s unknown whether or not Gore was talking about the iPhone ’4S’ and iPhone 5, or if he was just talking about the different combinations, sizes, and colors of the iPhone.

Additionally, the Wall Street Journal has pegged the iPod/iPhone 5/iPhone 4S event for October 4, which means that we might be seeing an invitation to the event in the near future. It isn’t known who will preside over the event (if they have one), however, it’s rumored that Tim Cook will preside over the event.

Do you think there will be two different iPhone models this year? Let us know in the comments below
