Microsoft Word for iPad – First Look

Microsoft just unveiled its Office Suite for iPad (better late than never), which includes the mainstay of work offices everywhere: Microsoft Word. In the modern age, it’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t relied on Word for at least some part of the education or work life. It’s why so many, for so long have waited painfully patiently for it to land on the…

If Apple was doomed and iPhone didn’t exist, which smartphone platform would you be using? [poll]

I’ve been thinking a lot about iPhone’s impact on the market recently. Some of it was spurred by all the recent talk surrounding Kane’s “Haunted Empire” book, and the pre-disposition the author had towards Apple’s inevitable failure. All in all, it seems to be another “Apple is doomed” article, printed on more pages, with more words, inside a cover….

“Blue Screen of Death” on the iPhone 5s? You’re not alone

A rather unlikely bug is said to be plaguing a handful of iPhone 5s units outs there. (Nope, it’s not the “bending all by itself” bug). Apparently, an issue which used to haunt Windows users has jumped across to iOS. As the video below shows, the iPhone 5s is suffering from the dreaded “blue screen of death” bug. Users have been taking to the Apple…

iCloud bookmark sync now supports Chrome and Firefox on Windows

If you are a Windows user, and were disappointed that Apple discontinued Safari for Windows and you don’t want to use Internet Explorer (you can still get it, just don’t expect updates), then you will be happy to hear about this. Apple has updated its iCloud Control Panel for Windows, bringing with it the ability to sync internet bookmarks with the…

It’s no secret that Android sales numbers are higher than iOS, however, according to a report from Kantar Worldpanel, Apple’s and Microsoft’s offerings are growing faster than Google’s mobile offering. Android saw a sales percentage of 51.7%, while iOS saw 41.4% and Windows Phone pulled in a minuscule 5.6%. Android, however, only grew 1.4% year over year,…

Microsoft launches “Windows vs. iPad” website

Microsoft, in an attempt to draw some attention away from the rise of Android tablets and towards its new tablet-centric operating system, Windows 8, has launched a new “Windows vs. iPad” website. Yes, that is actually the name of the webpage, Windows vs. iPad. So not only does Microsoft feel the need to start a website talking about how Windows 8 compares…

Windows 8 tablet ad pokes fun at iPad’s lack of real multitasking, SD card reader and AirPrint compatibility [video]

Yesterday a Windows 8 tablet vs. iPad showed up highlighting some of the difference between Apple’s tablet and the Microsoft slate. In that video the Windows makers used Siri’s voice to point out its weak points. This time around, it’s a classier and much simpler ad, highlighting similar things: lack of Office apps, multitasking and SD card reader. It’s a…

“Metro” iTunes app for Windows 8 still a long way off

Microsoft famously turned the PC world upside down when it officially launched Windows 8, its brand new operating system for PC. The idea being to create a software than worked equally well on tablets and traditional computers. It didn’t go swimmingly to begin with, as reports of people paying to downgrade to Windows 7 started to make their way…
