We’ve done our own versions of speed tests here on TiP on a handful of occasions. But, we’ve never been bold enough to lineup the entire history of iPhones together, in one video, comparing speed for everything from powering down, powering back up again and loading apps. Some of the results were fairly surprising. But, others not so much. Check out the…

Check out how the iPhone’s camera has improved since 2007 [Photos]

When the iPhone first launched, it wasn’t renowned for having the best camera on the market. In fact, its 2MP snapper was quite far off the likes of the Nokia and Sony Ericsson devices around at the time. Since then, Apple has improve the camera system with every generation. And, although megapixel count hasn’t gone up with every new model, improvements…

Artist depicts your iPhone, 100 years from now

Modern art is a take it or leave it thing for me, but I do like this work of Maico Akiba. In a series named “100 years later”, he imagines how your everyday items might look after a century of decay and nature taking its course. One item which stood out alongside cuckoo clocks, boots and cameras was an iPhone. Would an iPhone’s display still look…

R.I.P iPhone 3GS, I’ll miss you

The first iPhone I ever bought was the 3GS. I’d borrowed the 3G from a friend for a while and fell in love with the design, the way it worked and how comfortable it was in hand. It was enough to convince me to get the 3GS on launch day. Thankfully, iPhone popularity was still to grow in the UK and my local store still had plenty of stock at midday. That…

Some rather interesting news has made its way online this afternoon. According to RepairLabs, a lot of the iPhone 5’s front panel and digitizer assembly bears a great deal of resemblance to the iPhone 3GS’ internal design. The layout of the brackets in particular “suggest that it will be sitting into a housing, similar to a 3GS, but more updated and…

iPhone 5 compared with iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS in leaked pics

Judging by the watermarks on the image, you’d guess this leaked comparison shot had come from a hundred different sources. Leaked by nowhereelse.fr, a popular leak and concept site in France, the images show the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 side-by-side with the iPhone 5 mockup/prototype. As you can see clearly, the iPhone 5 is longer and slimmer than…

Apple to offer $200 off-contract iPhone next year?

Analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray predicts that Apple will drop down the price of the off-contract iPhone 3GS to two hundred American dollars by September next year. This would be 175 dollars less than the price of the current unsubsidized 3rd generation eight gigabyte iPhone, a considerable drop for those interested in the 3GS of contract. Gene…
