WWDC predictions: iOS 6, MacBook Pros, no iPhone 5

wwdc-2012 Apple has just announced the dates for this year's World Wide Developer Conference. This Apple-sponsored event has always been big when it comes to product announcements, and this year is sure to be no different. The tagline for the event, "It's the week we've all been waiting for," doesn't really lend us any information, so the question of which new Apple... Read more »

Apple’s 2nd quarter earnings

apple-money-1-e1311134788126 Apple held its quarterly earnings call today and, not surprisingly, the company put up some pretty impressive figures. The company reportedly doubled its profit to a whopping $11.62 billion, with almost a 60% revenue jump to $39.19 billion! To put this in perspective, Apple sold 35 million iPhones and 11.8 million iPads last quarter. The guys over at CNET... Read more »

Ellen loves Siri!

Screen Shot 2012-04-24 at 7.02.28 PM Twitter user @RandomPrice passed on a pretty funny video to us. The clip is an excerpt from the Ellen DeGeneres show and it's basically just Ellen asking Siri all of the funny things the rest of us tried out the week Siri debuted. However, I must admit that even though the material is a little dated, it's still a pretty funny video. The audience gets so excited... Read more »

Latest round of 4-inch iPhone mockups

apiphone5mockup With the new iPad launch in our not-so-distant past, and iPods not eliciting the amount of excitement they once did, iOS fans across the web have turned their attention wholeheartedly to the next generation iPhone. And in my opinion, one of the most entertaining ways to speculate about the next toy Apple's got up its sleeve is by looking at and/or creating... Read more »

Why iPads have to be built in China

ipadcover-670x501 I always thought Apple opted to assemble its products in China because of the cheap labor costs. And while that's surely a contributing factor, it appears there are other things keeping Apple's factories there. It turns out that iPads contain a fair amount of rare earth elements, and these can only really be mined in China. Apple is notoriously secretive when it... Read more »

Are iPods on their way out?

nano-group In an age where everything from refrigerators to SD cards to cellphones is to the web, how much longer can Apple's dedicated music player last? Just to be clear, I'm talking about the Nano, Classic and Shuffle here, not the Touch. The three standalone media players have been due for an update for quite some time now, but Apple doesn't seem too eager to update the... Read more »

Rumor: Apple Stores to be equipped with temporary, wireless backup service for broken devices

geniusbar We've all been there: Your iDevice breaks so you take it to the Apple Store. You're pleased to find the Genius perfectly willing to replace your device at no added cost. "This day might not be so bad after all," you think. Then the Genius asks if you've backed up your gadget before coming in. "What? Um... no." Then comes the awkward silence followed by the Genius... Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover could be first decent iPad keyboard

logitechthinkeyboard The iPad has had an interesting relationship with keyboards. The device is compatible with a whole host of keyboards from various manufacturers, but there has yet to be one that matches the iPad in usability and portability. Some keyboards out there are great for typing, but are bulky and heavy, taking away from the iPad's minimalist design. Others are easier to... Read more »

skitched-20120418-132737 TIME Magazine has just released its list of The World's 100 Most Influential People, and Apple's CEO made the list. This is pretty significant in itself, but when you factor in that Cook was following in the footsteps of Steve Jobs, it's hugely impressive that he's been able to forge his own successful path and get recognized for doing so. Each member of the... Read more »
