Apple today announced plans for its 2014 iTunes Festival in London. The annual event will again take place in London’s prestigious Roundhouse venue and will kick off in September.
On September 1, the usual 30-day run of performances will commence with headliners like Pharrell Williams, Maroon 5, Beck, Kylie Minogue and David Guetta already being confirmed. Other big names include Sam Smith, 5 Seconds of Summer, Robert Plant, Calvin Harris, Blondie and Kasabian.
“The iTunes Festival in London is back with another stunning line-up of world class performers and tremendous new acts,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “These live shows capture the heart and soul of iTunes and we love bringing them to our customers in the Roundhouse, as well as to the millions of people watching all over the world for free.”
Tickets to the event cannot be purchased and instead will be randomly allocated to competition winners. Those in the UK can enter through the iTunes Festival app while music fans around the world will be given opportunities to win tickets through local media partners.
The iOS app has just been updated for 2014’s events and each artist’s set will be streamed through the app on iPhone, iPad and, presumably, Apple TV as in previous years and at the recent SXSW festival.
