Alongside iOS 8 beta 2, which was released earlier today, Apple also released a new beta software update for the Apple TV. One of iOS 8′s newest features, iCloud Family Sharing, extends to the Apple TV’s latest beta software. However, this feature is not yet functional on the Apple TV. Users are expecting that they will be able to log into their account and access purchased music, movies, photos, TV shows, etc. from other devices on the same family sharing account.
Family Sharing was introduced at WWDC about two weeks ago. Families of up to six people with iTunes accounts that use the same credt card can share apps, books, music, movies, photos, etc. across all of their devices using iCloud.
Today’s software update was only available for the third-generation Apple TV, so it is uncertain if iCloud Family Sharing will be limited to that device or if it will extend to older model Apple TVs as well. iCloud Family Sharing will become publicly available this fall along with the iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite software updates.
