Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, has promised new product categories this year. We have already seen this coming to life with Apple’s solution to home automation. The company is said to have a team working on a variety of hardware products for the homes of users that will be integrated with the companies existing devices that are already on the market. Apple believes the home to be incredibly important and that the devices will see “mainstream” usage.
9to5Mac’s sources claim that Apple is supposedly past the exploratory phase of development, but these sources have not confirmed what home automation products Apple is in the process of developing. This gives people room to imagine what product categories will Apple focus on…
Apple’s introduction of HomeKit at WWDC will be tightly knit with the plans the company has for home automation. HomeKit will allow iOS users to easily control home appliances like lights, locks, and garage doors via apps and also by activating Siri. Sources are also reporting that Apple is developing hardware built on HomeKit software, which makes complete and total sense seeing as Apple is known to tightly integrate hardware and software.
Do you guys think that Apple’s answer to home automation will be a success or do you guys think it will be a flop? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section down below and don’t forget to give me a shout on Twitter – @malloriedeaton.
