Purported iPhone 6 physical mockup with 4.7″ display shown off in video

A new video has emerged claiming to show of a physical iPhone 6 mockup based on previously leaked schematics. The video, from 86Digi (via Nowhereelse.fr) gives us a great look at the mockup that purports to show the design of the next generation iPhone.

In the video, the iPhone 6 mockup is shown to have a 4.7-inch display and is 6mm thin, in line with previous reports on the next generation iPhone’s form factor. The mockup also shows the sleep/wake button has been moved to the top right side of the device with pill-shaped volume buttons on the left. What appears to be a single-LED flash is also represented next to the camera on the back of the mockup, which we have seen before, too.

Worth mentioning too are what appear to be antenna breaks cut out of the device’s rear. It has been suggested that Apple will opt for an all-aluminum casing for the iPhone 6 and will need to adjust its antenna layout in order for the device to remain functional.

The video follow yesterday’s images of an iPhone dummy mold and rumored camera updates. Apple is expected to release new iPhones in two different sizes, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch, with the smaller version rumored to be launching this fall.

Based on all of the leaks so far, I think the iPhone 6 at 4.7-inches looks to be the perfect device. This mockup appears to show a phone that is not much larger in physical size than the current generation iPhone 5s and its thin profile, although not pleasing everyone, should aid one-handed operation despite the device’s larger screen.

Are you excited to see some new iPhone hardware come out of Cupertino? Given what we’ve seen so far, would you buy the 4.7-inch iPhone 6? Let us know in the comments or grab me on Twitter: @TiP_AdamO.

I will make judgement when I see the final product when it debuts. I will say though that I wish they would have kept the current thickness the iPhone 5/5S has. I will update to it regardless because I need more space.

Yeah you can’t really tell until you get the product in your hand. But if it is anything like that mockup, I’m think I’m sold already.

good call Apple, keep copying Android patterns and you will survive.

Why is it copying android? The antenna band placement? Or the fact that it’s aluminum? They’ve been doing aluminum. Is it the shape of the phone? Perhaps they should make it a round device with zigzag antenna bands to avoid copying? Because we all know apple lives and dies to copy android devices..

  • I enjoy the one-handed use of the 4″ screen. I doubt I’d get the larger device.

    • Adam Oram

I was thinking that but I’ve got to say, seeing it in hand on that video kind of convinces me that the size is ok. The thinness and rounded edges will hopefully help with one-handed use!

Have you ever held the Moto X? 4.7″ screen- super easy to hold one handed. Smaller bezels and the same thickness but a touch wider/taller and they should be able to give us a bigger screen while maintaining form factor. If they don’t do this, I may switch

      • Can you easily navigate the entire screen, top to bottom, without shifting your hand?

        • RyanAlca

Absolutely. It’s shocking that the phone is very close to the same size as the iPhone with a 4.7″ screen, which in my opinion is the perfect screen size. The rounded back also makes it easier to hold than my 5s- believe it or not. It’s worth a look : )

          • If rumors pan out, then that might be the next iPhone. Interesting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

          • RyanAlca

No problem. If Motorola can make a screen size like that for one handed use- should be no prob for Apple. Cheers!

          • I’m sure Apple can do it. I know I would probably stick with a 4″ screen. I like being able to fit my iPhone into the ‘key’ pocket on my pants, and I’m not sure a phone with a 4.7″ screen would fit there.

Why would they go back to a single flash??

    • Adam Oram

I honestly don’t know. Unless they’ve figure out a way to combine the dual flash into a smaller space? Maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

      • RyanAlca

Like the flash itself is one kind and the ring around it another? How ’bout them apples

    • I don’t think they would. I’d say, IF this was genuine, that it’s the next C-class phone.
