Apple’s special relationship with The Beatles continues today, as the company quietly updated Apple TV to include a Beatles channel. Unlike all the other channels, it’s a simple link to a 14 minute video. It was added specifically to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band’s appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
It’s regarded by many as the first and most meaningful appearance of The Beatles in the States, and was key in the Beatlemania spreading across the U.S.
If you have an Apple TV, check it now and you should see The Beatles icon on the home screen now. As well as offering a look at the rare video, it also offers links to the band’s albums on iTunes. As it stands, iTunes is still the only legal source of digital copies of the Fab Four’s works.
