During conference calls for Apple’s quarterly earnings, perhaps the most interesting part is always the Q&A session, where analysts get to ask the Apple executives about the numbers revealed during the earnings call, as well as ask them what’s next for the company. As always, during today’s call, the question of what’s next in new product categories came up, and Tim Cook gave us the answer that was pretty much expected.
When asked about innovation, and whether or not the company was working on innovating in new product categories, Cook responded by saying that new category innovation has “never been stronger,” as well as pointing out that “our customers are going to love what we’re going to do.”
While it is no surprise the company is innovating in other categories, the answer didn’t give much of a timetable for releases of these new products. However, when questioned by Piper Jaffray’s analyst, Gene Munster, Tim Cook once again hinted that products in new markets are expected to launch by the end of 2014, meaning that it may not be a very long wait before we see an iWatch, or an iTV, or whatever else Apple may have up its sleeve.
While this doesn’t give us any new information, it does once again reaffirm that Tim Cook and Co. are looking to release some new products this year, and as an Apple fan, I couldn’t be more excited to see what the company has in store for its customers.
