Last year, when the iPhone finally landed on T-Mobile, one of TmoNews’ readers (also a developer) created a carrier update hack that allowed users on T-Mobile or AT&T to get significantly better reception and data speeds. Now, with the release of iOS 7 jailbreak, Joe from has released new versions compatible with more carriers (US and global), and is compatible with cellular iPads as well as iPhones.

Launched yesterday, the new carrier updates support U.S. AT&T and T-Mobile devices as well as EE, Three in the UK, O2 in Germany, Telcel in Mexico, Vodafone Australia, Three Ireland as well as Aio in the States. And we’re told that more are on their way.

Here’s what the carrier update hack requires and features:

Required Before Install

-Device must be jailbroken
-CommCenter Patch (get it from in Cydia)
-T-Mobile US Icons (Long/Short) for T-Mobile users to properly indicate
Wideband LTE (get it from

-Free HotSpot and Tethering
-Boosted signal reception (greatly depends on area, coverage, and land features)
-Boosted Data Speeds
-Optimized QoS for overall data usage
-Quicker LTE connection/reconnection time on T-Mobile and other carriers
-Prioritization of LTE and DC-HSPA+/HSPA+ on AT&T and T-Mobile for weaker coverage areas
-3G/4G toggle switch for the iPhone 4S on AT&T and T-Mobile and the A1429 on T-Mobile
-10 users allowed at once on hotspot/tethering
-Ability to Edit APN settings (for carriers that didn’t have enabled previously)
-Ability to manually choose a carrier in the carrier selection menu
-LTE+ data indicator for T-Mobile devices now that Wideband LTE is being launched

If you want to test it out for yourself on your jailbroken device, head on over to iTweakiOS for instructions on how to do so. I have to warn you though, if you’re not comfortable with more in depth and complicated processes, you might want to avoid it. It’s not as simple as downloading and installing a tweak through Cydia. There is a revert guide too, just in case you change your mind after installing it.
