The well known technology leaker, @evleaks, has done it yet again. This time the subject at hand today is a new gamepad for iOS. With iOS 7, Apple introduced new game controller APIs allowing for applications and devices to work seamlessly together without need for 3rd party libraries, etc. This has caused a spike in game controllers for iOS devices, including one from Logitech. This device is coming from Razer, a company already known for its gaming controllers for devices like the Xbox 360, and is reportedly being dubbed the “Kazuyo.”
No pricing, availability dates, or any other information really than company and a picture were provided. As you can see though, it looks similar to that of the other gamepads (how diverse can gamepads get?), but includes what appears to be a front speaker and – obviously – some sort of hinge that will allow you to tilt the the screen and device towards you for a (theoretically) better experience. Though pricing wasn’t given, I would expect it to be somewhere in line with the other devices that this would compete against. Those each go for around $100, so this most likely will go for somewhere around that, if not less.
A Razer spokesperson told CNET that “[Razer] work[s] on a variety of different concepts and designs all the time. We do not comment on any future products that may or may not be in development.” @evleaks is extremely accurate in its leaks, so there shouldn’t be too much question as to whether or not this device is legit. The bigger question is when it will drop, and for how much. Based on that quote from Razer though, we may have some more time to wait.
What do you think? Would you be interested in buying this? How much would you pay? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
