Google Search for iOS gets huge update including “OK Google” search prompt

Google Search for iOS has today been given a massive update.

Version 3.1.0 allows users to begin voice searches through the app hands-free, simply by saying the words “OK Google”, a bit like Google Now for Android. (This feature is only available on the iPhone 4s or later)

Another new feature is notifications, users can now use Google Search to notify you about delayed flights, train times and upcoming appointments. This means you can now set reminders with the app, such as reminders to buy food or visit events. The notifications can be extended to updates about users favorite musicians, television shows, actors and celebrities, with Google Search notifying you when a new album is released, or when your favorite celb makes the headlines. New cards in the app also provide information on movie tickets, event tickets, boarding passes, car rentals, public transport tickets and more.

The core of Google Search is searching, and that’s been improved too. The app features a new, simplified homepage, gestures which allow you to zoom in on or throw away images, one touch sign in for users of other Google apps, and improved voiceover accessibility to make searching as simple and effective as possible.

Google Search is available for free on iOS now! App Store
