We’re used to seeing companies aim swipes at each other through advertising. And in possibly one of the best examples of how to do it, the new Kindle Paperwhite TV spot shows its benefits vs. an iPad for reading outdoors, in daylight. As an advert, it’s far classier and much less “clutching at straws” than the Microsoft tablet ads of recent times.
In my review of the iPad Air, the only downside of the display (I found) was in daylight. Light reflects of the screen so much that you can barely tell what’s on there some times. It’s why the Kindle Paperwhite is such an attractive option for people who like to read books on the go.
I’m always tempted to get a Kindle just for reading alone. Then I remember, I spend all day reading and writing as my job. The last thing I want to do when I’m relaxing is read some more. Do you own an iPad and a Kindle, or do you just make do with the iPad for reading and keep it indoors?
