Space Gray IPad 5 Shell Caught Posing As Gold

If you have seen the iPad 5 gold rear shell “leak” going around the internet today, take a second look at it. Josh Lowensohn of CNET decided to add some white balance to the images, revealing something that was a little unexpected; the “gold” iPad shells are actually just space grey ones with horrible white balance, giving them the “gold” look. You can see the adjusted image above to the left of the original “gold” iPad 5 rear shell image.

It isn’t unexpected that we will indeed see a gold flavor of iPad mini and iPad when the rumored October 22nd event rolls around, however these “leaked” images are not of what we will eventually see (which is good, because they made it look much darker and very gaudy in appearance).

The iPad 5 is expected to be announced alongside the iPad mini 2, and sport an iPad mini like design with thinner side bezels and a much flatter back. It’s also wondered whether either of the new iPad models will see Touch ID, which wouldn’t be too far fetched an idea seeing as the iPad usually gets whatever processor the previously announced iPhone got (with the addition of an X on the end, e.g. A6X).

What do you think? Are you hoping for a gold iPad? Would you buy it? Let us know in the comments
