Apple have not provided a release date for the upcoming iPad mini with Retina Display other than stating it will be release “later in November”. A product listing on Target.com now suggests that that date could in fact be November 21. If this date is to be believed, that would mean Apple’s Retina mini would launch on the Thursday before Thanksgiving in the US.
While this date listed on the Target website is likely just a guess by the company, getting the Retina iPad mini in stores before Thanksgiving (and Black Friday) could be logical as it is a major shopping weekend in the States with technology products being extremely popular purchases.
Launching the iPad mini with Retina Display later in November allows Apple to focus on the release of the iPad Air for most of the month before adding another product to its shelves. It also gives them some more time to produce more Retina iPad mini stock which is said to be constrained. However, Apple product releases usually fall on a Friday and it is unclear why Apple would choose to launch the Retina mini on a Thursday.
The iPad mini with Retina Display is a huge upgrade over the original iPad mini. The addition of the high-resolution Retina Display and the 64-bit A7 processor mean that its a real powerhouse. In fact, its just as powerful as the new iPad Air, the only differentiators between the two being screen size and price.
Stock of the Retina iPad mini are expected to be extremely tight until early 2014 so if you want to get your hands on one before Christmas, you’ll have to act fast whenever they are officially released in late November.
