iPads are hot commodities. As with most technology, the more popular the device, the more likely it is to be a target of theft. Unfortunately for some thieves, people are starting to get smarter and smarter about protecting their investments in technology. One person that can vouch for this is the robber seen in the image above, who attempted to steal an iPad from a pizza shop in Chicago last Saturday. He peeked through the window and saw the tablet sitting on the counter; it was an easy target. The only problem? The iPad was chained to the counter.
This proved to be quite an issue for the would-be robber as he struggled with the iPad. He seemed surprised that the iPad did not come off of the counter as easily as he expected, and after a few tries, he simply gave up on the iPad. My first reaction was to wonder how damaged the iPad would be after all that force being put on it from both the robber and the chain attached to the counter. Fortunately for the owners of the pizza place, the iPad is just as they left it. ”The iPad is in perfect condition,” Doug Brandt owner of Pie Hole Pizza Joint claims.”You can see in the video the guy had to tug, tug, and tug. You could see the counter shaking. You could see the other stuff on the counter topping over. It was well-secured.” To watch the video of the attempted robbery, head on over to NBC Chicago.
Fortunately for this pizza place, it was smart enough to secure its tablet. Unfortunately for the robber, it looks like he’ll have to buy his own iPad, rather than steal one. However, it’s hard not to laugh at his attempt to get the iPad. He seemed so confident that it would be an easy steal, and he still leaves empty handed. What do you think about this robber?
