It is no surprise that the iPhone 5s and 5c have been huge successes since their launch just a couple weeks ago. The devices sold millions on launch weekend, and have been very difficult to find in stock anywhere since the launch. With this in mind, it should also be no surprise that both devices were in the top three selling devices for each of the four major carriers since September 13th.
The iPhone 5s has been the top selling device on all four major carriers, which is expected since the device has been out of stock since it launched. However, the bigger surprsie to me was that the more colorful and fun iPhone 5c was the second best selling device on both AT&T and Sprint, and third best selling device on Verizon and T-Mobile. In each case, the only device that beat out the iPhone 5c was the Samsung Galaxy S 4.
In addition, these sales helped bring Apple back to the top as best selling smartphone vendor in the United States for September, a spot which was held by Samsung for three months. While I’m not surprised that the 5s has been selling incredibly well on all four carriers, I was actuallly surprised to see that the 5c has sold as well as it has. While Apple devices always sell well, it is essentially a year-old phone in a new wrapping. I know it has received great reviews and feels great in the hand, but I still couldn’t see myself buying the iPhone 5c over the 5s.
What do you think? Are you surprised that the iPhone 5s and 5c are selling so well on every US carrier? Drop a comment below, or tweet me @TiP_Griffin.
