Today images have been released of an exclusive Leica M camera, designed by Jony Ive and Marc Newson for Bono’s RED charity auction Next month.
We’d already seen shots of the Ive-designed 18k gold Apple EarPods, and a Steinway piano. Now, we have shots of the amazing camera that has sprung forth from the same duo. The Leica M took 85 days to create. It’s made of a laser machined aluminum body, with an anodized aluminum shell, so no guesses where that idea came from… The design team went through a staggering 561 models and almost 1000 prototype parts.
The camera has a full-format CMOS sensor, a high performance processor and a new Leica APO-Summicron -M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens. So not only is this camera phenomenal piece of artwork, it takes a pretty darn’ good photo too.
