Apple will be opening the doors of its retail stores at 8 a.m. on Friday, November 1 for the launch of the all-new iPad Air, giving customers the chance to get their hands on the new lightweight iPad for the first time.
The news is not surprising as Apple Stores opened slightly early for the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c launch back in September.
Apple will not be taking advance online pre-orders for the new full-sized tablet and it is expected that online ordering will begin at 12:01 a.m. on November 1. That means the only way to get a hold of your own iPad Air on launch day is to get yourself down to your local Apple Store and join the queue.
We saw huge queues worldwide for the new iPhones and a repeat could be on the cards as customer scramble to be one of the first to own Apple’s latest 9.7 inch iPad.
The new iPad mini with Retina Display is not launching November 1 with the iPad Air and will be available “later in November”. Yield rates for that new high density screen have been cited as one possible reason for the Retina mini’s later launch date. Apple will hope to have both tablets available before the upcoming holiday season but it remains to be seen how well the supply meets demand.
