If you are in to insanely priced devices, then does Adidas have something for you. A new fitness tracking smartwatch has just been announced and will be coming out on November 1st for $399. Yes, take a moment to read that again, $399. You can get Samsung’s overpriced smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, for $100 less than that. In a world where Nike can announce a $149 FuelBand SE, the Adidas watch will have to have some pretty great features to sway anyone up its way. Some of the features sound promising, such as the ability to track your pulse through your wrist, and will include various motion sensors to track the user’s activities. Also, it will be more of a standalone device, not relying on other devices to sync data with, providing you with everything on its own.
To be completely honest, with the information Adidas has released as of now this device seems like it will be dead on arrival (DOA). Pricing it $100 more than the Galaxy Gear, granted that isn’t a fitness watch, just isn’t a bright idea unless there is something Adidas isn’t telling us about this device. There seems to be a lot of information missing, but seeing as November 1st isn’t far away more information has to be on the way. I just don’t see this competing with devices like the Nike FuelBand SE and the Fitbit Force simply because of its steep price. I wouldn’t pay $399 for a device, even if it was standalone. I would rather get something that is by far cheaper and will just sync with my phone. May just be me though.
What do you think? Is this worth the price? Or is it much to expensive? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
