The new visual redesign means that the interface gets out of the way and you can focus on the high-resolution photographs. Navigation bars are translucent and images are edge-to-edge which really does highlight the content over anything else. New swipe gestures in the comments system allow users to ‘Like’ or reply to comments quickly.

The iPad version of the app sees some more love too, with improvements to Flow view and the photo details drawer.

Here are the full release notes:

Version 2.2 features:

• A beautiful new translucent edge-to-edge design filling your screen with amazing images. Your photos always come first.
• Swipe any comment to reveal Like and Reply actions. Like a comment to promote it to the Top Comments section; reply to a comment to keep the discussion alive.
• iPad: See the community in action with an improved photo details drawer which shows each person who liked and favorited every photo.
• iPad: Flow gets even more personal with all of your friends’ avatars alongside their likes, favorites, and comments.

The app looks a lot better in the latest release, keeping the dark aesthetic but bringing it into the iOS 7 era nicely.

500px is free to download for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
