If you like to jailbreak your iPhone, you likely haven’t upgraded to the newly released iOS 7 yet as there is obviously no jailbreak available. You’ll also be happy to hear that lone hacker Winocm is working on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3/6.1.4 and has shown a working version off in a video.
As you can see in his video below, the jailbreak is working but is intolerably buggy.
For the jailbreak community, this is a good sign that a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 and 6.1.4 is being tested and developed. iOS 6.1.4 was previously deemed un-jailbreakable and highly regarded hackers evad3rs previously confirmed that they would not be working on a jailbreak for this version of iOS and would be waiting for the next major release. Apple seems to be getting better at patching any possible jailbreak exploits with each firmware update and jailbreaks are taking longer to produce each time. Any of evad3rs’ work on iOS 7 is probably still a very long way from being released to the public.
Although Winocm clearly has a working untethered jailbreak running on an iPhone 5, he did not give an expected public release date for his jailbreak either and judging by the extremely rough edges on show, it is likely still far from ready.
However, Apple is still signing iOS 6.1.4 (for now) so if you’ve just updated to iOS 7 and want to downgrade via iTunes in anticipation of a possible jailbreak being released, now is the time. I wouldn’t hold your breath though.
