Achieved unsigned userland code execution with some of our stuff in reserve. Now we have a good platform for poking the kernel.

Planetbeing gave another update today on the progress of an iOS 7 jailbreak, and the news is good, but we must stay patient. Yesterday he stated that the evad3rs, the team behind evasi0n, has begun looking at iOS 7 to see if the exploits the team had reserved will still function, and now he has posted to state that he achieved “unsigned userland code execution.” What’s this mean for the end user? Not much in terms of being able to jailbreak yet, but it definitely brings hope of an iOS 7 jailbreak coming.
There’s a lot to be done before we see a jailbreak, but that’s to be expected with this significant of an upgrade. It’s positive to see people – especially as well known as the evad3rs – are on the job though. Hopefully they will find either more exploits, or the same ones that were found before but kept secret in order to have a working jailbreak not long after iOS 7 sees a public release. Remember though, please stay respectful of the fact that these jailbreaks are not easy to develop, and there is no timeframe on when we will see a release, so don’t go asking them for one.
