In something of an unusual move, Apple has sent out a reminder so we don’t forget the iPhone 5s and 5c are set to land in store shelves on Friday. The company issued a press release today. Retail stores will open at 8:00am local time in each of the launch countries while online orders will be available from 12:01 Pacific Time (3am Eastern).
“CUPERTINO, California—September 17, 2013—Apple® today announced that iPhone® 5s, the most forward-thinking smartphone in the world and iPhone 5c, the most colorful iPhone yet, will be available to customers on Friday, September 20 at 8:00 a.m. local time at Apple retail stores and at 12:01 a.m. PDT at the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com). iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be available in the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK.”
With recent news that the 5s has already sold out its initial reservation stock in China and Hong Kong, all signs are pointing towards low stock. Apple is finding it difficult to produce enough stock, so it’ll be interesting to see how soon orders start to arrive for those who order it online.
iPhone 5c pre-orders went live on Friday last week, and are so far holding up fairly well, with delivery dates only pushed back a few days for the unlocked SIM-free models in the States. Carrier models sold on contract are still available for delivery on Friday. Apple is yet to announce any pre-order figures for the 5c.
