Apple Product Red

Since its founding in 2006, (PRODUCT)RED has been an incredbily successful charitable program that is dedicated to fighting AIDS. The program, started by Bono of U2, has expanded over the years and incudes products in many different areas of consumer goods. One of the most prominent examples is the presence of (PRODUCT)RED in Apple Stores. The Cupertino company currently sells many different products for which a percentage of the proceeds goes to the charity. Today, it was announced via the (PRODUCT)RED Twitter account that Apple is currently the largest source of donations to the charity, bringing in over $65 million since it started selling the products. That tweet can be found embedded below.

Apple currently sells red iPod nanos, shuffles, and touches, which are all part of the (PRODUCT)RED line, as well as a special red SmartCover for iPads, and a bumper for the iPhone 4/4S.

Have you ever purchased a (PRODUCT)RED product, or considered doing so? Do you like the idea of Apple selling these products to be charitable and help solve the issue of AIDS overseas? Leave a comment below and let us know!
