Two bits of music-centric news for you to digest today. Firstly, rumors from WSJ predict that the VEVO TV channel will land on Apple TV as soon as this week. VEVO TV will be a cross-platform app, but it could well change the way we consume music videos. Previously (and currently) it’s a dedicated YouTube channel and online presence. But to have its own dedicated apps will make music video discovery even more convenient for anyone with an Apple TV, PS3 or Samsung Smart TV. The service is set to offer 24-hour a day original content as well as on-demand music videos.
Secondly, iTunes Festival apps have just arrived back on the App Store and on Apple TV. If you booted up your “hockey puck” this morning, you will have noticed the new/returning app show up in your Apple TV’s home screen. Performances by Ellie Goulding, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon and many others from the Roundhouse in London will be available to you free from September 1st to September 30th. Some point after that last day, the content will no longer be accessible, so get to it while it’s there. Apple is yet to specify an end-date for its video content on iTunes Festival.
