A rumor coming from a site known as Sony Alpha Rumors has leaked some press shots of what is said to be a Sony camera lens attachment that will be available for both Android and iOS devices. Working via Wi-Fi or NFC (obviously Wi-Fi for iOS devices), the rumored attachment will add a 20.2MP, Carl Zeiss camera lens to your device. The above image shows press shots of the lens, which will be controlled via your smartphone or even tablet:
What you see on these images are the DSC-QX10 and DSC-QX100 lenses. Actually these are not normal lenses! They have built-in sensor, Bionz processor, Wifi/NFC wireless connection and SD card slot. These lenses have no LCD screen and no usual camera controls. You will be able to control them through your smart phone or tablet.
An application is supposedly how you will control it, which would be published by Sony to the App Store. There isn’t any pricing details talked about unfortunately, but you can assume it’d be more expensive than your usual camera lens attachment we have seen thus far. If you are someone that wants high quality pictures, but doesn’t want to buy a dedicated camera, this might be just the thing for you. I use my iPhone for more hobbyist pictures, and prefer my DSLR for more professional style photography. This would be great for the average hobbyist, however.
