One of my biggest issues with video sharing apps such as Instagram and Vine has been the lack of ability to share videos I’ve already captured. If I’m trying to catch a video of something cool really quickly, my first instinct is to open the native camera app on my iPhone, rather than another third party app. The same thing goes for pictures for me, but fortunately, Instagram has allowed me to upload my own pictures to the app from the camera roll. Finally, the Facebook owned app has added the same functionality for its videos.
A new update issued today now allows users to share their own videos from the camera roll and put it on their Instagram feed. This fixes my biggest issue of not being able to load my own videos without having to go through the app’s video capturing interface. You can check out the full changelog for version 4.1 below.
What’s New in Version 4.1
- Share videos from your camera roll
- Instantly and automatically straighten your photos when you take them with the Instagram camera
If you’re interested in checking out the Instagram update, head on over to the iOS App Store to download. What do you think about this new feature? Am I crazy to think that this is a big deal, or do you share my same issue with these video sharing apps? Drop a comment below and let me know!
