Ever since Dropbox bought Mailbox earlier in the year, we’d seen little evidence of the two companies working together until recently when the Mailbox app was updated to include Dropbox attachment support. Now they’ve added an extra incentive to have both iOS apps installed. Users can now gain an extra 1GB of storage in the cloud just by linking the two services.
To get your 1GB of free storage, make sure you’ve signed up for a free Dropbox account. Head on over to Dropbox.com or install the free iOS app to register. Then:
1. Install the Mailbox app on to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
2. Log-in to your Gmail account on Mailbox.
3. Link your Dropbox account to the Mailbox app. To that that you just need to go in to Mailbox’s settings menu, and you’ll see an option to link it to Dropbox. Once you’ve done that you should get a notification/email telling you that you have an extra 1GB of storage space.
Go through all those steps and you’re all set. It worked instantly for me, so be sure to let us know if your storage goes up.
