Since the departure of John Browett as head of retail for Apple last Fall, the Cupertino firm has been looking to revamp its executive positions in the retail section of the company. While the search for the next chief of retail is still ongoing for Tim Cook and Co., the company has recently hired Enrique Atienza from Levi’s, the clothing company, as its new director of retail along the West Coast region of the US. This is one of the most important roles in Apple’s retail sector.
In addition to the hiring of Atienza, it is also rumored that Steve Cano has been promoted to Vice President of Retail Operations. In this position, Cano will report directly to CEO Tim Cook, and will work above Atienza. While both represent important hires for Apple, the company is still looking to fill the Senior Vice President of Retail position, and is reportedly searching for an outside hire, and possibly a hire from outside of the United States.
These hires are positive signs for Apple as it looks to turn around its retail hiring, as it was recently rumored that the company is using a recruiting firm to hire a new Senior VP, and has even been turned down by other candidates.
