Apple has extended its “USB Power Adapter Takeback Program” to a few more countries it would seem, according to the update to its site. If you’ll recall, the program began earlier this month and was available in the US and China, but now has extended to a few other countries. The countries added include: UK, Canada, Australia, France, and Germany. The program, which began as a response to injuries from 3rd party chargers, allows you to take a charger that you bought and purchase a new, official Apple one for $10, or the equivalent. According to 9to5Mac, the following is what you’ll be given in the newly added countries:
Australia ($14 AUD), Canada ($11 CAD), France (10 €), Germany (10 €), Japan (￥1,000), and the United Kingdom (10 €).
As you can see in the image to the left, the drop down menu on Apple’s official page verifies the newly added countries. By visiting the site, http://www.apple.com/support/usbadapter-takeback/, you can choose your country to be given information specific to your area regarding the takeback program. The new countries, however, will only be able to take advantage of the program beginning on this Friday, the 16th, and will end on October 18th.
What do you think? Have you taken advantage of this? Are you going to if your country was added? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
