Nike introduces “Nike+ Challenges” in update to Nike+ Running app

nikeNike+ Running has just been updated, and with this update it makes exercising a little more social. Then again, what isn’t going social these days. Well, with version 4.3 of the Nike+ Running application, Nike is introducing a new feature called “Nike+ Challenges” that brings with it “races” and group chats. You can set a certain distance, and whoever reaches that distance first, obviously, wins. Here is the full change log:

What’s New in Version 4.3

Ready to take on your friends? With Nike+ Challenges, you’ll compete with your friends and motivate each other to go farther and faster than ever before. Track your progress, top the leaderboard, and snag a medal. Every run counts.

• Choose a distance and invite your Nike+ friends.
• Keep track of who’s in the lead and stay motivated through group chats.
• Finish a Challenge before your friends and take home a medal. We’ll leave the bragging rights to you.

I am a user of the Nike+ FuelBand, and have just started picking up and using this application as well. You can use this particular app with no extra hardware necessary, as it simply uses your phone’s GPS and accelerometer. If you are interested in getting your social running on, go on over the App Store and download it for free here: Nike+ Running.

What do you think? Like the new social features? What do you use to track your exercise? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
